THE MAIN TASKS I COMPLETED AS A TRAFFIC MANAGER

The primary responsibility of a Mid Traffic Manager is to be the central point for all creative workflows. They are in charge of matching the right skills to the confirmed project requirements, ensuring that the creative teams are being used effectively and that all deadlines are met.

A key part of their role is building strong, collaborative relationships with all department leads. This is essential for them to accurately assign the best team members to each client brief. They are responsible for allocating and monitoring resources within the onsite team and also work with HQ-based teams to move resources around as needed.

A significant portion of their work is focused on managing the day-to-day operations. This includes receiving new client briefs, raising job numbers, and making sure the right project management and senior creative contacts are informed. The Traffic Manager must also maintain a clear oversight of every brief against its final output.

Beyond the daily tasks, they have a strategic role in the business. They need to understand the client's contractual core team and help predict future resource needs to manage the project's maximum spend and maintain a healthy profit margin. They are also responsible for owning and maintaining the skill-set matrix for their team.

A major part of the job is proactive problem-solving. They must be able to identify and resolve any potential resource conflicts or escalate them to the Business Director before they become a crisis. This role also requires them to manage client expectations effectively regarding the delivery of design, copy, and artwork.

They are expected to have an entrepreneurial spirit, be willing to learn the key skills for running a business, and seek out new opportunities for client resource management. Excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as experience dealing directly with clients, are what makes a person successful in this role.
